Title of Work: Small Talk
Statement:
"Small Talk" consists of three parts: the portrait of my mother captured by "Smile Shutter", the daily snapshots taken by my mother and I, and the pictures of nature. They are intertwined, outlining the appearance of my dialogue with my mother.
Open the "Smile Shutter" function, and the camera will be exposed immediately when a smiling face appears in the picture. I use this shooting method to simulate the previous "good news without bad news" conversation. When shooting, the flash is reflected on the mother's face in the photo, and her face seems blurred and alienated.
The epidemic has confined me to family life and faced this conversation directly. I want to establish a new way of communication. I gave my mother a disposable film camera and asked her to take pictures of her daily life.
Both mother and I are deeply fascinated by the nature. It is the intermediary of our communication, and also the content that I shoot the most and last the longest. In the process of deepening this dialogue, I realized that I no longer idealized it.

《日常对话》由3部分构成：“笑脸快门”捕捉的母亲肖像、我和母亲各自所拍摄的生活快照，以及大自然。它们交织在一起，勾勒出我与母亲的日常对话的模样。
打开“笑脸快门”功能，相机在画面出现笑脸时会立刻曝光，我用这种拍摄方式来模拟以往“报喜不报忧”的谈话。拍摄时，闪光灯映在照片中母亲的脸上，面孔变得模糊、疏离。
疫情让我囿于家庭生活，去直面这种谈话。我想要建立一种新的沟通方式。我送给母亲一台一次性胶片相机，让她拍摄自己日常生活的深处。
“自然”是母亲与我都深深着迷的对象，是我们沟通的中介，也是我拍摄最多、持续时间最长的内容。在这场对话逐渐深入的过程中，我意识到自己也逐渐不再将其唯美化。
Biography:
Huang Liwen, born in 2000, studied in Photography Department of Communication University of China. She likes walking and taking photos. She hopes to integrate photography into daily life.
