Title of Work: Cities
Statement:
Wandering through virtual and real cities, I’m always thinking: as the technology is developing and the metaverse is prevailing in today’s world, many things can become virtual which are made by our consciousness, is our real world the reality itself?
Combining the virtual world with the images in our real world, I created this photo album. Two different cities, going through the dimensions of time, they seem to have a real high similarity from some aspects. The city in the virtual world is similar to a dystopian city, significant changes among people’s life are being made because of the change of the technology while the sensible experience of the virtual world makes people just not get enough of it. Maybe someday in the future, people can have access to everything once connected to the internet. And instead, we may look at ourselves now, are we also controlled by some virtual network? The virtual world created by our imagination, is it the future of our world?

在虚拟和现实的城市中游走，我常常思考：当今世界，随着科技的发展和元宇宙概念的盛行，许多东西都可以成为虚拟，由我们的主观意识所构建，那么我们所处于的现实是否是真正的现实？
我将虚拟世界与现实世界中的影像相结合，创作了这一份图片集。两个截然不同的城市，以及不同的时间维度，在某些角度来看却具有极高的相似性。虚拟世界中的城市是一个类似反乌托邦的城市，人们的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化，却囿于虚拟的感官体验而无法自拔。可能在将来的某一天，人们都会接入网络，在那里我们可以拥有一切。而反观现在，我们是不是也被一种虚拟的信号所控制？影像中描述的虚拟世界是否就是当今社会的未来呢？
Biography:
Born in Shenzhen, Xu Kangjie grew up in this city, strolling through the crowds and buildings and he found that the future that people foresee are becoming the reality day by day. Exploring the relationship between the real world and the virtual, he hope to understand the impact of science and technology on the development of human society through photography.
许康杰在深圳出生、长大。在人群和楼群中穿梭，他发现电影中所预言的未来在逐步实现。他探索着现实和虚拟世界的关系，希望通过摄影的方式来了解科技对人类社会发展的影响。
